The prices (single room if italic) quoted in Hotels with special rates for SPIN2004 are from the Chamber of Commerce list of hotels and are meant only to give an idea of the hotel standards: special rates (10 to 40% discount) have been obtained for the Symposium. When making the reservation specify "SPIN2004 Symposium" in order to benefit from the discount.

Position of the hotels in the list "Hotels with special rates for SPIN2004" are marked for convenience. Please note that:
- only in the Holiday Inn Hotel and in the ICTP Guest Houses rooms are available before October 10: if you do not have special reasons to come before that day, we recommand you to arrive in Trieste on Sunday.
- the number of rooms is limited: make your reservation as soon as possible, and in any case not later than the dates indicated in Hotels with special rates for SPIN2004 (July 31 in most cases). After those dates our special pre-booking expires and you will not benefit anymore of the special discount.
- at the Adriatico and Galileo Guest Houses priority will be given to people from developing Countries and Central European Initiative (CEI) Countries asking for support in the registration form (deadline June 15). The participants from the other Countries having asked for housing in the Guest Houses will have to wait until the end of June for the eventual confirmation of their booking.
- IMPORTANT Students (both diploma and PhD) will be given a high priority for accomodation in the ICTP Guest Houses, as long as they are willing to share a room (only double rooms are available). Please specify in the registration form if you would like to share your room with some specific participant.
Important Event: the Barcolana
On Sunday, October 10, a major happening takes place in Trieste, the Barcolana. Over 2000 sailing boats of all categories race in the gulf of Trieste: it is one of the most attended regatta in the Mediterranean, which takes place every year on the second Sunday of October. Tens of thousands of people come to see the boats, most of which are docked downtown in the old port of Trieste (a great place for walking), and the regatta itself (for more information see the barcolana site).
Those participants who are interested in this event are invited to arrive on Saturday and stroll downtown Trieste in the afternoon. They should be aware however that all hotels in Trieste are fully booked the days before the regatta, and that accommodation can only be reserved either in the ICTP guest houses or at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Duino. Since priority in the guest houses is given to partecipants from developing countries and CEI countries, we strongly recommend the partecipants interested in the Barcolana to book their stay in the Holiday Inn Hotel in Duino, from which we have negotiated an excellent quality/price ratio. Duino is a small village located on the seaside, roughly half way between the airport and ICTP. It is connected by public bus service, and if you come by car you can dispose of the Hotel parking area.
In any case, traffic is severely perturbed in Trieste by the Barcolana, and use of private cars is strongly discouraged. In order to be able to plan attendance for this event, we kindly ask the interested partecipants to express their interest in the appropriate case of the Registration Form.
Deadlines: July 20/July 31
